January 9-21, 2012 I’m teaching a movement intensive at the Puppet Showplace Theater titled Body Puppetry and Bharatanatyam, which utilizes storytelling tools derived from the classical South Indian dance-theater form in order to create new work, and I’ll be performing a demonstration of class material Saturday, January 21 at PST’s Puppet Slam. I drew from material I learned while studying bharatanatyam and kathakali intensively at Vijnana Kala Vedi in Kerala, India in 2006, which has strongly influenced my work today.
