Oct 11 2020: window performance at Boston Cyberarts

Rachel Wiese and I presented a little set of window performance études—visible to an outdoor audience gathered on the sidewalk, and streamed live via YouTube to a virtual audience—as part of Lani Asuncion’s Digital Soup series, in residence at Boston Cyberarts September 12 – October 12, 2020.

Veronica Barron and Rachel Wiese present a surreal and poetic window performance where everything that’s seen is also hidden. A shadow puppet rabbit comes to rest in a dancer’s silhouetted arms. A dancer finds herself encased in layers of shadow world projected on the windows. Does hiding behind glass keep us cozy, contained, and safe? Or are we trapped, caged? Barron and Wiese blend sung vocals, dance, shadow puppetry, object puppetry, and visual theater in a window performance to be viewed by passersby from the sidewalk, or via livestream video.
