Songwriting & Sound Design for Gloucester Stage

At the summer’s end, I teamed up with Christopher Vu for songwriting & sound design for Gloucester Stage’s production of Reparations, presented in a beautiful outdoor theater at Windhover Performing Arts Center (one of my favorite hidden gems of the Greater Boston area!).

As you can see in these photos, we sure did experience some of the trials of outdoor theater! But for all the challenges of flooded audience seating, the need for ponchoes, and ambient sound that does not match the soundscape of a tony New York City apartment, outdoor theater is also just straight magic, and we experienced plenty of that as well. I was so happy to be there while the actors wove their spell, surrounded by trees and night sky and designs that aimed to make their incantation stronger.

Reparations by James Sheldon. Directed by Myriam Cyr. Scenic design by Jon Savage. Costume design by Deirdre McCabe Gerrard. Lighting design by Kat C. Zhou. Sound design by Veronica Barron and Christopher Vu. Produced by Gloucester Stage. Performed outdoors at Windhover Center for the Performing Arts, Rockport, MA.
