July 2013: Outside the Box Festival

This summer, I learned about the existence of a thing called a Spiegeltent.

Apparently, the word is Dutch for “mirror tent”, though it seems that a Spiegeltent is not so much a tent as a beautiful wooden performance space filled with mirrors:

It was the theater venue for the inaugural Outside the Box Festival, and I was fortunate enough to perform in it not once, but twice!

Once with Icarus (no pictures, sadly), and once as part of the Puppet Showplace Theater‘s Best of Boston Puppet Slam with Winning Higgins’s Love, me and Aimee Rose’s original clown tragedy.

Speaking of Higgins, we’ve got a new video from our Oberon show—click to watch!

(This is in addition to the original video from the first Puppet Showplace Slam we presented this piece at.)

Look at all those smiling faces! What a delight to perform with this talented group!

I leave you with the following picture, proving that while I may be excited about the Outside the Box Festival looking back on it, there’s no way it could compare to how excited I was on the day of the festival itself:
