March 11+12: touring in Kid Koala’s Nufonia Must Fall! (Ann Arbor)

I’m pumped to be hanging with Kid Koala & crew as a puppeteer in Nufonia Must Fall, for a run of spring U.S. tour dates. Much gratitude to Faye Dupras, the wonderful puppetry designer from ICARUS, who recommended me for the gig :)

Kid Koala, aka Eric San, usually explains the show by saying, “We’re going to try to make a movie in one take, with three cameras, live music, and live puppetry”

I’m one of three puppeteers for an assortment of rod puppets, tabletop puppets, & others, which we move through ~15 tiny puppet sets (reminiscent of elementary school dioramas, but cooler!), as our cinematographer shoots the whole show live each night.

These pics are from a great week in Ann Arbor, spent learning & performing the show. I would also like to say that all the folks we worked with from University Musical Society & The Power Center were such great hosts! I don’t mean to traffic in stereotypes, but the notion that “Midwesterners are really nice” was validated many times over.
